Clinics and Services
Asthma Clinic
The Asthma Clinic aims to monitor and help you manage your Asthma. For an appointment please book to see Nurse Laura, Syrene or Clinical Pharmacist Nathalie.
Childhood Immunisations and Postnatal Check
This is run by GP and practice nurse every Tuesday by appointment only. The appointment is the baby's 8-week check and mother's postnatal check in one appointment. This is run by a Doctor, currently Dr Hussain or Dr Settle.
- This clinic is by appointment only.
- Children between the age of 4 to 10 years old will be given the Flu Vaccination at school.
- If you baby has a fever, you should not bring them to the clinic.
Chronic Heart Disease (CHD) / Healthy Heart
You will have an appointment with a member of the Nurse Team, where a blood test will be taken.
Before we can review you, you will need to have had the blood test done. You can do this at the Homerton Hospital (Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4pm). In order for us to have received the results, please have the test done at least 3 working days before your appointment.
During your second appointment the nurse will review your blood test results.
Coil Fitting Service
We offer IUD (copper coil) and Mirena® coil fitting and removal services at the practice. These are highly effective, long-acting forms of contraception, and the Mirena® coil can also help manage heavy periods.
If you are considering a coil or would like advice on the most suitable option, please contact the practice to arrange an appointment with one of our clinicians.
Contraceptive Implant Service
We are pleased to announce that we now offer contraceptive implant fitting and removal appointments at Somerford Grove Practice. The contraceptive implant is a highly effective, long-acting form of contraception that works for up to three years.
If you would like to discuss whether the implant is right for you, or if you would like to book an appointment for fitting or removal, please speak to a receptionist. Alternatively, you can contact us online and a member of our team will contact you.

Diabetic Clinic
An appointment can be made with a member of the Nurse Team in a General Clinic for STEP 1:
- Urine test
- Blood test
- Blood pressure check
- Foot check
- Weight
STEP 2 appointments are booked with a Nurse or Doctor to discuss the results of STEP 1.
Family Planning
Services include:
- Contraception (including pills)
- DepoProvera injections
- Emergency contraception
- Family planning advice (telephone appointment).

Health Checks for Patients Aged 75 and Over
If you are aged 75 or over, you can have a free yearly health check with us.
This check helps us make sure you are staying well and getting the support you need.
During your appointment, we may:
- Talk about your general health
- Review your medicines
- Check your mobility, hearing or vision
- Discuss any worries, including memory or wellbeing
- Offer advice or extra support if needed
To book your health check, please contact the practice.
We can offer flexible appointments, including telephone or home visits if you are unable to attend the surgery.

Smoking Cessation
Want to quit smoking?
Support is available online, or you can book an appointment with our Smoking Cessation Advisor, available at the practice on Fridays.
Social Prescribing
Social prescribing is about giving you access to activities, social groups, services and advice based on your needs and interests. The aim is to improve your sense of wellbeing, which in turn can often have a positive impact on your health.
The social prescribing clinic is every Tuesday (Amy) 9:30am to 6pm and Thursday (Beverly) from 1pm to 4pm. Call reception to book an appointment.
